Myriam and I were away, and despite the spitting rain in Lisbon, made an effort to get out and at least participate in the traditional TM breakfast......
......and very up-to-standard it was, although the distance we had to walk to indulge didn't merit the size and calorific value. Myriam even got a proper teapot, although her choice of wild berry tisane was a little peculiar.
Chris and Antje made the effort to drag Sasha along the beach and got wet (twice) for their trouble.
The Happy Wanderer.
From far flung parts more WAGS' WhatsApps arrived to provide material to bulk out the blog.
Lindsey was in the Orient and made an understated comment " It's warm and humid here!" from a very colourful flower market.
The Hopes were celebrating a significant Anniversary in Venice, and John is pictured going for the Italian Walkers boot - a Calzone, as a gesture towards the Wednesday lost.
Somehow his scholar's Latin was insufficient for him to order fluently so he had to turn to the Collins Easy Learning Italian Phrase Book. Apparently Livy's comment 'Romanis pilibus erectis' didn't go down well.
Later Hazel regaled us with more photos of John going native in Italy. It is hardly the standard of Pizzeria Oliva in Lagos for after-walk post-pasti, but the Italians seem quite happy with it.
Even the Italian chefs couldn't ruin a Parma ham roll, served with a wooden fork and washed down with genuine Pellegrino water
and Panna Cotta with strawberries!
We persevered with Lisbon to get our Wednesday 8000 steps done, and had a notable Chinese lunch at The Old House in Parque de Nacoes.
A recommendation from Antonio de Montanha- very good but pricey.
Myriam studying the form! The photos didn't always match the Chinese descriptions, nor even the more fanciful English translations.
Siu Lung Bau
Siu maai
Ngoh maai gai
Enough food. We had to walk it off and went round Rossio where we found a good T-shirt shop
Pun intended - but the prices were outside WAGS authorised limits!
We were still walking the next day 25th which commemorated the 1974 Carnation Revolution, and involved a long procession with armoured vehicles and lots of Goan carnation traders supplying the marchers with flowers
.
Patriotic marchers........
......and Patriotic songs.
Do you remember where you were on 25th April 1974?
